Duncan girls golf finishes runner-up
There will be no three-peat for the Duncan girls golf team.
The 2017 and 2018 state champion Demons finished runner-up at the Class 5A state golf tournament at Lincoln Park West Golf Course in Oklahoma City on Wednesday, 14 strokes behind team champion Durant.
Duncan, which has won 11 state golf championships since the turn of the century, carded a 680 team score for the two rounds. Duncan was paced by Brooklyn Bostick, who finished fifth individually after carding a two-day total of 156, including a 76 on Thursday.
Demons teammate Lynlee Graham finished eighth individually, with a 163, after shooting an 84 on Thursday. Duncan’s Gentry Cox finished with a 176, after a second-round 82.
Fort Cobb, Fletcher lose state tourney openers
Fort Cobb-Broxton was blanked by Asher, 8-0, in the Class B state tournament quarterfinals in Shawnee on Thursday while Fletcher was ousted by Stonewall, 6-1, in the Class A state tournament at Palmer Field in Oklahoma City.
Both state tournament regulars, Fort Cobb finished another successful campaign with a 22-8 record while Fletcher finished 24-7.
