CU women routed by hot-shooting West Texas, 95-78
West Texas A&M lit a fire under its offense in the second half Saturday and shot lights-out en route to a 95-78 Lone Star Conference women’s basketball victory over Cameron University in the CU gym.
The 14th ranked Lady Buffs fought back from a 49-43 halftime deficit by converting 80 percent of their shots (12 of 15) in the third quarter and 57.1 percent (8 of 14) in the fourth. That boosted the game output to 56.3 percent.
The Buffs entered the game hitting 49.2 percent. That figure ranks third in NCAA Division II.
The win gives WT a 9-3 league record and a 17-3 overall mark.
Cameron falls to 4-8 and 7-13.
It was another tale of two halves for the Aggies, who played one of their best 20 minutes of the year before slumping after intermission.
