CU golf climbs regional rankings
The Cameron University men's golf team climbed three spots and finds itself ranked fourth overall in the NCAA South Central Region.
A strong fourth place tie at the Mustang Intercollegiate against tough competition provided the Aggies a boost in the region. The regional rankings will be updated again on April 18 before the announcement of the NCAA Tournament field on April 25.
Ten teams from each of the eight regions across the country will be selected to compete in one of four super-regionals to be held May 5-7.
The South Central/West Super Regional will be contested in Austin, Texas at Grey Rock Golf Club and will be hosted by St. Edward's University. Champions of the Heartland and Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championship tournaments will receive automatic berths while the other eight teams will be selected at-large through the rankings.
The Lone Star Conference does not have an NCAA automatic berth this year and its four institutions who sponsor men's golf: Cameron, Midwestern State, Texas A&M Commerce, and West Texas A&M will need to qualify as an at-large bid.
