Cook about to take final shots of solid career
Trace Cook has been lurking around the 3-point line at MacArthur for years now, but all things must come to an end and for Cook, the end is rapidly approaching. The senior sharpshooter has, at most, seven games left in his senior season.
If things go according to plan, he has six and it will end with a state title. The Class A No. 5 Highlanders' march toward a gold ball begins Friday at 8 p.m. at home against Chickasha.
MacArthur (16-7) made the state semifinals last year, but fell to Tulsa Memorial, 51-43. The Highlanders lost four of their top six players from last year with just Cook and Barry Williams still around.
Yet Mac has integrated six new pieces and has more depth than last year and Cook says it was easy getting those guys into flow.
"It's been a little tough, but not so much of a struggle because they fit in with our style," Cook said. "We just play hard every time. Our defense has been strong this year."
