Casper has ride to remember with 84 in saddle bronc
Talk to most cowboys and they say it doesn’t matter which bronc or bull they draw; they’ll ride whatever they receive in the computer draw.
So, when Wyatt Casper saw the day sheets for the 81st Annual Lawton Rangers Rodeo, he probably knew that he at least had a bronc he could get a good score on as he had been matched with Nutrena’s Little Angel two years ago at the Rangers Rodeo.
While this ride won’t give him the title, his 84 on the great bay mare will surely get him a check when the standings are completed after tonight’s final performance.
That final performance will being at 7:30 p.m. at the LO Ranch Arena east of Lawton.
Casper was matter-of-fact in his comments after the ride.
“She’s exactly like I remembered her,” the Pampa, Texas cowboy said. “She does her thing and if you mark her out and do your job you will get a good score.”
Casper was spot-on with his ride in the classic rodeo event.
“I just go back to the basics of old school bronc riding,” he said. “You don’t have to be flashy, just do it like it’s been done for years.”
