Cameron volleyball team closes home season with 3-0 loss
Cameron’s volleyball team fell in three sets to Western New Mexico in their final home match of the season on Saturday.
Despite hitting .300 in the first set, the Aggies finishing with an attack percentage of just .112 after offensive struggles in the second and third sets. Normally strong on the block and the service line, CU managed just three blocks and three aces against WNMU on Saturday.
Arianna Navarrete and Jillian Wright led Cameron with six kills each while recording just four errors combined. Maya Hill and Shantalle Demirjian added five kills apiece against the Mustangs. Both Desiree Marmolejo and Katherine Manning each had 13 assists at the setter spot for CU.
The Aggie volleyball team honored their two seniors Katrina Campbell and Peyton Little after a match where the two combined for 17 of the team’s 39 digs (12 from Little and five from Campbell).
Western New Mexico was dominant in the first set, tallying 16 kills with no attack errors in the set. They used an early 8-1 run to take a 10-4 lead. CU got back to within three, but WNMU answered with six points in a row to take a 16-7 advantage. They carried that momentum into a 25-16 set win.
