Cameron golf in fifth at NCAA Super Regional
AUSTIN, Texas Cameron University might not have gotten off to a super start in the NCAA Division II Super Regional golf tournament but the Aggies are in position to move up with another consistent round during today's second round at the Grey Rock Golf Club.
The Aggies shot a 299 Monday, 11 shots over par and ironically 11 shots out of the lead as No. 2-ranked California State-Monterrey Bay shot even par 288 Monday to surge into the lead by three strokes over host St. Edward's.
Chico State, the nation's No. 4-ranked team, was third at 293, 5-over-par and No. 7-ranked Western New Mexico was in fourth at 295.
The Aggies, who come into the tournament as the 42nd ranked team in Division II, are one shot up on No. 6-ranked Hawaii-Hilo and Colorado University-Colorado Springs, both with 12-over-par 300 totals.
Twenty teams are in the field and at least the top three will advance to the National Tournament later this month.
