Cameron baseball stuns No. 1 Angelo State, advances to LSC title game
Cameron baseball entered Friday one win away from the Lone Star Conference championship game.
With No. 1 Angelo State as the opponents, getting there seemed less likely than not.
But the Aggies showed no intimidation, using a monster seventh inning to pull away and earn a 12-3 victory to make the title game.
Cameron scored first with a Jaylan Prince scored on an RBI groundout in the opening inning. The Aggies held that slim lead for five innings before a three-run homer from Josh Elvir seemed to swing the game Angelo State’s direction.
Then came the seventh.
Cameron exploded for seven runs, surging to take an 8-3 lead. The Aggies hit seven consecutive singles, which ended with a two-RBI hit from Piercer Khan. That proved enough to win the game, but Cameron added four more runs in the final two innings for insurance.
