Cameron baseball drops first game of doubleheader to West Texas A&M
Muddy conditions from heavy rains earlier in the week kept on pushing back first pitch of Saturday’s doubleheader.
The Cameron baseball team finally hit the field around 6 p.m. Saturday evening, but the wait did not do the Aggies any favors, as CU dropped the first game of the doubleheader before falling behind 8-0 in the nightcap, which ran past press time.
The Aggies fell to West Texas A&M, 6-0 in a contest that lasted only seven innings.
The Buffaloes got going early with two runs in the first inning, and a home run from Cade Engle in the second gave them a 3-0 lead.
Hayden Jaco got the start for Cameron only to pick up the loss.
He threw six and one-third innings, striking out five and surrendering five hits. Pierce Khan led the Aggies at the plate, finishing 2-for-3. He also stole two bases. Cameron stranded seven runners and came away with only three hits.
