Cache schools board votes to not retain Hunt
CACHE Cache Public Schools Board of Education passed a motion in its meeting one week ago today approving superintendent Randy Batt's recommendation that football head coach Stacey Hunt not be re-hired next year.
According to the meeting's minutes obtained by The Constitution, board vice-president Lenson Hearn's motion to approve Batt's recommendation was passed by a 5-0 vote. Further details behind the recommendation might become clearer when the board holds a pre-termination meeting for Hunt on May 7 at 1 p.m. at the high school cafeteria conference room. The hearing will be closed to the public.
Hunt is still currently Cache's coach. He said he was served a little more than a week ago with notice of the pre-termination meeting, along with a copy of Batt's recommendation and the underlying facts supporting it. Hunt did not disclose what the recommendation included, but the health and physical education teacher denied wrongdoing.
"I haven't done anything illegal or immoral. This isn't one of those situations. I look forward to being head coach here for a long time. This is where I want to be," said Hunt.
