Cache, Elgin get Bricktown meeting under lights

On March 8, a nice little storm washed out the Cache-Elgin baseball rivalry's season-opener. More than the sweet moisture it provided, that precipitation ensured the two teams would play their first game in a prime-time setting.
Instead of the original 2 p.m. start in early March at Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark in Oklahoma City, the teams will hook it up in the venue at 7 p.m. tonight. It's the Owls vs. Bulldogs, meeting down the stretch in a spring where they're both top-20 caliber.
The Majestic Roofing Series sets up high school teams in the home of the Triple-A Oklahoma City RedHawks, allowing prep ballplayers to escape their home diamonds and trade rural views for something more urban.
So instead of the Wichitas bearing down on batters, players from No. 12 Cache and No. 20 Elgin meet in a minor league park, under the lights, with hotels and restaurants looming high above the outfield wall. The two teams played in the series last season, with Cache grabbing a 10-2 win.
