Brenna Busby's two home runs lead Cameron to sweep of UTPB
Brenna Busby needed no time to warm up.
She squared up and sent the ball flying down the left field line back toward the fence. It flew over for a leadoff home run, a sign of the big day to come for the junior on senior day.
Busby homered twice – once in each game – during Cameron’s doubleheader against UT Permian Basin on Friday to lead the Aggies to victories of 2-1 and 10-2 at McMahon Field.
Her second home run came during the second inning of Game 2, sparking the biggest scoring outburst of the day. With the bases loaded, she hit a grand slam to right center field to give CU a 5-0 advantage. Her homer was followed by two more from Breley Webb and Callie Busby, Brenna’s twin sister. The Aggies (32-12, 19-8 Lone Star Conference) scored seven runs on five hits in the inning and already led 8-0 heading into the third.
“Today felt really good swinging the bat,” Brenna Busby said. “I was really comfortable in the box all day. I think just getting out and getting on top to score a few runs made everyone relax and have fun. We didn’t have to try to do too much at the plate. Just swing and get base hits.”
