Aggies pick up signature win, edge Lubbock Chrisitan, 66-62
With the outcome slowly slipping away, the Cameron University women’s basketball team closed out Lubbock Christian University with a strong rally that produced a 66-62 victory over the Texans Saturday in the CU gym.
Coach Emma Andrews’ youngsters went on a 17-6 run in the final 4:10 to reverse a cold trend and snap a 4-game losing streak. CU is now 3-6 for the young season.
Lubbock, which started the year ranked 5th in NCAA Division II, falls to 7-4.
“We changed practice this week,” Andrews said while accepting congratulations outside the CU dressing room. “We did a lot more competitive game-situation drills, so when we were down by 6 or 7 there, we had practiced getting back from that. I think they had some confidence.”
