Aggie tennis teams gear up for LSC tournament

The Cameron men and women’s tennis teams are set to take on the rest of the Lone Star Conference in the league championship tournament this weekend

With their 5-2 win over Midwestern State last Thursday, the Cameron men clinched the LSC regular season title and No. 1 seed in the tournament, going 3-0 in league play this season.

Friday, the CU men will face off against the four seed, Western New Mexico, in the conference semifinal at noon. With a win, the Aggies would play the winner of the Midwestern-UT Permian Basin match in the LSC Championship Final on Saturday at 10 a.m.

In Wednesday’s Oracle/ITA rankings, the Cameron men moved up to No. 13 in Division II, jumping four spots from last week’s ranks. Vinicius Santos moved up two spots and is now ranked No. 6 in singles, while Przemyslaw Zielinski is now ranked No. 72. In doubles, Santos and Julen Gutierrez are now ranked No. 15, moving up 11 spots from last week, and Zielinski and Mritunjay Badola are now No. 44.

The Aggie women enter the LSC Championship as the No. 4 seed after finishing the season with a conference record of 4-2. Three teams finished the season with 4-2 league marks (CU, Midwestern and Texas A&M-Kingsville), but due to tiebreaker rules, CU ended up as the four seed.
