Owen-Carlson turns her talents to Lyrics from Lisa

If Lisa Owen-Carlson's career as a certified public accountant ever goes south, at least she can fall back on her skills as a singer and songwriter.

The Lawton artist you may have enjoyed at the March 1 benefit to raise money for B.C. Swinney Elementary School's special needs playground equipment wrote her first song when she was only 9 years old. She's been creating music ever since.

"I have a rhyme and a melody in my head and have ever since I was a little girl," Owen-Carlson said.

Her father was a musician and taught her to play piano. Her mother was a singer, who bought the future entertainer her first guitar when she was a teenager.

Owen-Carlson performed throughout the area in the '80s, then took a bit of a break, although she never completely stopped.
