Cameron Professor Publishes First Novel
Six years ago, Leah Chaffins had an idea. She had always dreamed of writing books, and at the time she was working on her Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing at Oklahoma City University. She loved vampire stories, but in 2012 vampire stories felt played out. So she sat down and tried to imagine what could replace vampires; what could fill that genre niche in the publishing market.
“Angels. It just popped into my head.”
Chaffins began researching different angels, spending nights pouring over the mythology of the Abrahamic religions learning about the various angelic beings that populate the pages of The Bible, The Koran and The Torah. That’s when the roots of her first novel began to take hold.
