Permits and construction going strong in Lawton
The first phase of upgrading a Lawton storage company helped boost city building permits to more than $4.3 million in September.
The city issued four permits for new single-family homes valued at almost $1.1 million, and commercial permits totaled $3.2 million.
Almost two-thirds of the commercial total — $2 million — was for a major renovation of Storage R Us, 900 Rogers Lane. According to documents filed with the city, the first phase will include demolition of a building and construction of a new 20,200-square-foot new structure at the site. A second phase also is planned.
The city also issued a $300,000 permit to Lovesick Ministries to remodel 1,240 square feet at 1107 SW Summit for an outreach center.
A $225,000 permit was issued for remodeling 7,906 square feet in the Lawton Marketplace, 2006 NW 82nd, a discount tweens and teens retailer with more than 850 stores in the United States.
