Local VITA sites offer free preparation, assistance for taxpayers
The Great Plains Improvement Foundation and other local organizations are available to make this even more stressful than normal tax season a little more bearable.
The new tax code revisions passed by the federal government more than a year ago have created major headaches for many taxpayers — many of whom just want to get their returns processed as quickly and easily as possible. Perhaps that’s why volunteer income tax assistance sites, such as GPIF, have been much busier this year.
“We’ve been extremely busy,” said Sheryl White, site coordinator. “We’re already booked until the first week of April. That’s something that we’ve never seen before. This is the first time our site has been this busy this fast this far out.”
