Cotton gins kick into high gear
Recent heavy rains have area cotton growers waiting for the ground to dry out before they resume work on this year’s harvest.
“It’ll be slowed down by it, for sure, yes,” Oklahoma Cotton Council executive director Harvey Schroeder said of the effect all the rainfall has had on the harvest.
Not everyone is stalled, though. When contacted this past Wednesday, Jeannie Hileman, manager of Farmers Cooperative Mill & Elevator Association of Carnegie, said they were ginning cotton that very day.
