Teen arrested for Wednesday threats against another Duncan High School student

A Duncan High School student accused of making threats against another student was arrested Wednesday following a quick response by the police.

Duncan Public Schools issued a statement Wednesday afternoon that credited, “due to the rapid response of local law enforcement, none of our students or schools were in jeopardy.”

Police Detective Lt. John Byers said the threat came in and, within a short amount of time, investigators got to the bottom of it. A juvenile male was arrested by early afternoon.

“There was some information given to the school over some (social media) posts and some of him actually making a verbal threat to another student,” Byers said. “We responded as soon as the school notified us.”

“There was no immediate danger to the students at that time,” he continued. “He was eventually arrested and taken to a juvenile facility.”

According to the Duncan Public Schools statement, school districts are limited by law regarding the amount and nature of information that can be shared in these circumstances. Additional updates will be provided and thanks were given to all who informed school officials and law enforcement to any possible threat.
