Task Force Comanche honored at naming ceremony
It was more than just a naming ceremony.
It was a celebration of two proud forces and the mutual respect between the two.
On Friday, at Watchetaker Hall at the Comanche Nation Complex, the 961st Engineer Battalion, an Army Reserve unit based in Seagoville, Texas, was presented with the name “Task Force Comanche” by the Comanche Indian Veterans Association.
Back in August, Lt. Col. Kenneth Bryant, commander of the 961st Engineer Battalion, was looking for a task force name for the unit as it prepared for deployment. The 961st Battalion, comprised of about 160 soldiers, is slated to go to Iraq, Kuwait and Syria.
