Seventh shooting incident within week has Altus police seeking answers
A recent rash of gunplay in Altus has police investigating yet another shooting incident — the seventh in less than a week.
Police are looking into the Wednesday night shooting of a house in the 800 block of Hairston at around 9:15 p.m.
“This is the second shooting investigation in the same immediate area,” according to Police Chief Tim Murphy. “A home was damaged by gunfire and there were no injuries reported. This shooting along with other shootings over the past weekend continue to be investigated.”
Wednesday night’s gunfire follows a half-dozen similar incidents from last weekend.
The first two incidents occurred around 4:30 p.m. Nov. 1. Two homes and a vehicle were struck by gunfire in the 800 block of Hickory Street. Another vehicle was struck at the same time during an incident in the 800 block of Hariston Street.
