Man wanted for Altus homicide arrested

An arrest has been made of a suspect in connection with a recent Altus shooting death.

Altus Police Chief Tim Murphy said that Quamell Daunte Massenburg, 28, surrendered Monday to law enforcement. A warrant was issued last week for his arrest in connection with the Sept. 9 shooting death of Tychance Martin, 30.

Murphy was found suffering multiple gunshot wounds around 3 a.m. at the intersection of South Joy and West Victory streets, Murphy said. He died later.

Massenburg contacted Altus police detectives Monday afternoon and said he wanted to surrender, Murphy said. Detectives traveled to Oklahoma City and took him into custody without further incident.
