Man arrested after hammer attack
An arrest warrant was issued Wednesday for a 31-year-old Anadarko man accused of a hammer attack earlier in the morning.
The Caddo County District Court issued a warrant for the arrest of John Edgar Topaum for a felony accusation of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon after former conviction of a felony, court records indicate. Due to a prior conviction, he could serve 10 years to life in prison if convicted.
Topaum is accused of striking a man several times in the head with a hammer during a Wednesday morning incident in Anadarko.
Anadarko Police Officer Preston Allen said in the court affidavit that he was called shortly before 3:30 a.m. to 123 Prairie Village regarding a fight in progress. The resident at the home told Allen that Topaum had his son-in-law hit the witness’ son in the head with the tool. The man said Topaum was still in the garage.
