Hobart will hold annual Freedom Celebration

HOBART  Freedom will be celebrated with a day of fun-filled activities and food Saturday.

The General Tommy Franks Leadership Institute and Museum will partner with the Hobart community to host the 10th annual Celebration of Freedom. Moved up a week from its traditional Memorial Day weekend slot, this year's celebration will still offer a host of activities for the whole family to enjoy while remembering the military members  both past and present  who help make the weekend possible.

"This event celebrates patriotism and our brave men and women in uniform will be honored as part of every event," said D'Lese Travis, executive director.

The festivities will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday with a skeet shoot at the Hobart Gun Range. Individuals can participate in the Freedom Fest Golf Scramble at 9 a.m. at the Hobart Municipal Golf Course. Lucky attendants can win cash and prizes throughout the day during a cash raffle at the museum. Raffle tickets may be picked up all week. Raffles will be held throughout the day Saturday for a chance to win $50. A final $100 raffle drawing will be at 4:30 p.m. at the Stanley Building.

The museum will host guided tours from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Individuals will get a chance to learn about the history of Franks, from his time in Vietnam up through his service in Afghanistan.
