Guilty plea gets man 10 years in prison

A 28-year-old Cement man is due to go to prison after pleading guilty to using his car to kill a man and maintain his drug stash.

Donald William Franklin pleaded guilty in Stephens County District Court to felony charges of second-degree manslaughter and maintaining a place for keeping/selling controlled substances, both after former conviction of a felony, court records indicate. He entered his plea before the start of the current jury trial docket.

Franklin was ordered serve 10 years in Department of Corrections (DOC) custody for the manslaughter count and a 10 year suspended sentence for the drug count, to run consecutive with each other, followed by 2 years supervised probation and a $1,000 total fine, according to records.
