Family fracas turns into child abuse allegation
A Sunday afternoon family fracas resulted in a child abuse allegation against a Duncan man.
The Stephens County District Court issued a felony arrest warrant Monday for David Dean Bryan Jr., 33, for the allegation of child abuse by injury, records indicate. He faces up to life in prison if convicted.
According to the court affidavit, Duncan police were called to a home in the 1200 block North 5th Street shortly after 2:30 p.m. after a 16-year-old girl reported being punched in the face by her stepfather before the 911 call was disconnected.
Duncan Police Officer Julio Alvarez said when he arrived the girl said she was at her stepfather’s house with family when her juvenile boyfriend and stepfather’s brother began to “rough house and wrestle in the front yard.” The man was on top and wouldn’t get off the boy despite the girl’s asking him to stop. She said she tried to get him off the boy and that Bryan came up behind her, grabbed her by the hair and pulled her off his brother.
