'An Elgin Christmas' to return Saturday with fun run, parade

ELGIN — The town of Elgin will feel the holiday spirit with a full day of activities Saturday.

This is the second year in a row the community will celebrate “An Elgin Christmas.” Created last year by the Elgin Chamber of Commerce, it was the first organized Christmas event in Elgin in many years. It was a resounding success.

This year’s event will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday along Mighty Owl Avenue at Elgin Public Schools. Food trucks and craft vendors will be set up through 5 p.m. with plenty to eat and many homemade and commercial gifts available for late Christmas shoppers. Santa Claus will be in town for a visit — taking a brief break from the North Pole. He agreed to visit Elgin to spend time with children and listen to their Christmas wishes before participating in the parade later in the evening.
