Couple accused of fake check scheme
A Poteau couple are wanted for crimes connected to an alleged check fraud conspiracy in Anadarko.
The Caddo County District Court issued felony arrest warrants for Chance Alan Smith, 25, and Sara Jo Hash, 28, for felony counts of computer fraud and conspiracy, as well as a misdemeanor count of third-degree forgery, court records indicate. The felonies are each punishable by up to 10 years in prison.
Anadarko police were first called Feb. 22 to a grocery store in reference to a bogus check. The check was shown to have come from Taco Mayo in Anadarko with Hash listed as the payee for $280, according to the affidavit. The check was digitally signed. The second and third checks were from O’Reilly’s Auto Parts in Anadarko, both were written to Smith, one for $347.45 and the other for $356.11, and each was digitally signed.
