Cache Police show valor under fire, according to chief
CACHE — Sunday morning’s violence that sent lead flying and law enforcement seeking an end solution provided a rare and scary experience.
Cache Police Chief Donna Kimmel said her small department earned their grit from the experience.
“I’ve got good cops in my department,” Kimmel said. “They were out there when it began and they stayed out there until very end.”
The chief was off on administrative leave following Sunday’s events. The shock and stress of the situation had finally caught up Wednesday.
“I am literally sick,” Kimmel said. “It really hit me today.”
Kimmel was among officers called into the crossfire of a dangerous situation. It began with being called around 4 a.m. to a homicide scene at a home at the corner of North 8th Street and Oak Street in Cache. Responders arrived to find a man, identified by the state Medical Examiner’s office as Roger Raymond Cole, 55, dead from “multiple gunshot wounds.”
