Tigers run over Demons, 33-0
A strong rushing attack by the Ardmore and a stingy defense thoroughly flummoxed the Duncan Demons Friday night as the Tigers cruised to a 33-0 victory.
The Tigers racked up 542 yard of total offense, most of it on the ground on a cold and rainy evening in Duncan. The Demons were only able to manage 89 yards of offense on an evening when they never even reached the Tigers red zone.
The game started with a big play for the Tigers that turned into an even bigger play for the Demons when Tiger junior Donald May ran around the left end for what looked like it would be a 79-yard touchdown run, but May was caught by a Duncan defender at the Duncan two-yard line and fumbled the ball into the back of the end zone for a touchback.
Duncan’s ensuing drive looked promising as the Demons drove 37 yards into Ardmore territory, but the drive stalled and the Demons would be forced to punt the ball back to the Tigers. The opening drive for the Demons would be their best drive all night as the space they were able to find for their running game dissipated due to the Tigers stingy defense.
On Ardmore’s next drive they would take the ball 85 yards in 10 plays, all of them on the ground. The drive was capped off by a 16 yard run by junior Creed Cox to give the Tigers a 6-0 lead.
After one of many three-and-out drives of the game for Duncan, the Tigers would again have a long punishing drive of 95 yards that ended in a touchdown and a 12-0 lead early in the second quarter.
