Sooners, Longhorns set for Red River Rivalry Part II

ARLINGTON, Texas — Riding up the elevator at the Cotton Bowl in October, Sam Ehlinger told his Texas teammates how it felt a lot better coming up to the postgame press conferences a winner.

Because in October of 2017, it was the Texas Longhorns quarterback holding back the tears after a valiant comeback came up short against Baker Mayfield and the Sooners.

Earlier this fall, it was Ehlinger grinning from ear to ear after his five-touchdown outburst where he accounted for nearly 400 yards of total offense.

On the other end, it was a befuddled Sooners quarterback Kyler Murray — who also accounted for five touchdowns — in tears after losing his first game since before high school thanks to a pair of costly turnovers in Oklahoma’s 48-45 loss.
