Shockers top Ada to survive
SHAWNEE Playing one loss away from elimination in the American Legion State Tournament, the Southwest Shockers had little room for error Saturday.
They were nearly flawless in a 14-1 win over Ada, which kept their title hopes alive for a little longer in Shawnee.
The Shockers opened the game with an 11-run first inning and racked up 13 hits. Olustee's Taylor Avila produced four RBIs, while Cache product Judah Sweat finished with three.
Sterling product Dillon Wright finished with three hits, while Olustee's Christian Fixico and Sterling's Zack Walker added two, with two RBIs.
Nick Onan threw five innings to pick up the pitching win on a night he, Avila and Kannon Hayes combined to allow just two hits. The Shocker defense did not commit an error.
The Shockers played Three-Rivers in a late game that ended after press time.
