Shockers still alive at State
SHAWNEE The Lawton-based Southwest Shockers stayed alive at the American Legion State Tournament on Friday, but are one step closer to elimination after splitting a pair of games.
The Shockers dropped a 4-2 decision to Three-Rivers in the early game, but rebounded with an 8-1 win over Bartlesville to stave off elimination.
Southwest pitcher and Olustee product Dylan Sanchez held Three-Rivers to just two hits, but the Shocker offense managed only three and its defense committed four errors.
Three-Rivers built at 4-0 lead before the Shockers closed the gap with two runs in the fifth. Cache product Judah Sweat drove in a run to lead the Shockers. Blake Clanton and Christian Fixico added the other two hits.
Anadarko product Ethan Smith produced a no-hitter against Bartlesville, to go with five strikeouts. Smith slammed the door on the Bruins after they scored a run in the first inning.
The Shockers scored two runs in the second and two more in the fourth, before a four-run sixth inning. Conner Bost and Zack Walker each had two RBIs, while Fixico drove in a run. Clanton finished with two hits.
