Outlaws clobber Lincoln Christian, 12-5 as Tag Allen hits for rare cycle

All it took was one inning for the Marlow bats to heat up.

A year after losing a 2-1 nail-biter to Beggs on the very same field at Edmond Memorial High School in the quarterfinals, the Marlow baseball team marched onto the next semifinals by erupting for five runs in the second inning en route to a 12-5 victory over Lincoln Christian in the Class 3A state tournament quarterfinals on Thursday.

Early run support and a cycle from Tag Allen did the trick.

Tag Allen finished 4-for-5 with 5 RBIs and the rare cycle — a single, double triple and a home run. The simplest of the quartet, the single, actually was Allen’s final hit of the day when he delivered a single in the seventh inning to complete the cycle.
