Fletcher girls repeat; BP gets first title

Top-seeded Fletcher’s girls made it two in a row and No. 1 Big Pasture secured its first championship in the Comanche County Basketball Tournament during heated action Saturday at Great Plains Coliseum.

Fletcher withstood a frantic Big Pasture rally in the final four minutes to secure a 38-33 victory and successfully defend its title.

Big Pasture took an early lead and fought off Walters’ second-half pressure to nail down a 50-40 win over defending champion Walters.

It’s the fourth overall title for Fletcher.

The Wildcats were coasting with a 16-point lead when Big Pasture turned up the pressure.

That 33-17 lead diminished to 33-27 before junior Amanda March slowed the surge with a free throw. BP’s Kate Laminack scored on a fast break to leave it 34-29.
