Cache's season comes to agonizing close in 21-11 loss to Blanchard

CACHE — Folding would’ve been the easy way out.

Dealt a poor hand after losing its star senior, Hayden Nunley, to a controversial ejection shortly before half, the ninth-ranked Cache Bulldogs refused to quit with their season on the line in the first round of the Class 4A playoffs.

With a timely Tim Tebow-like 21-yard pass from Brandon Pauley to Jake Barnes on a crafty fake punt, Cache marched 62 yards down the field and scored the go-ahead touchdown in addition to the swing-and-gate 2-point conversion — both courtesy of Pauley — to take a 11-7 lead over No. 8 Blanchard with 3:25 left in the third quarter.
