Cache uses sixth inning to push past Guthrie, 7-5

DUNCAN — Cache did just enough to hang around.

The Bulldogs fell behind early against Guthrie on Friday at the Southern Oklahoma Invitational. They stayed on the low end of the score for most of the game, until the sixth inning. Hayden Nunley connected for an RBI single that rolled between second and third base to bring Kyle Mullen in.

That run gave the Bulldogs their first lead, which they would never relinquish on their way to a 7-5 victory.

“I’m hoping that an identity is starting to form that regardless of who we have on the mound whether it’s Alex (Smith) as a senior or Adam (Ulloa) as a freshman that we’re always in it,” coach Michael Fisher said. “Hopefully we’ll see some wins pile up on the weekends in addition to the weekday district games.”
