Falls Creek will celebrate 100 years
EDITOR'S NOTE: The Lawton Constitution is looking for your memories of the early days of Falls Creek. If you attended before 1950 and would like to tell your story, please contact Kaley Patterson at 580-585-5151 or email her at kpattersonswoknews.com before Aug. 18. To be considered for a story, please include the dates you attended Falls Creek and a sentence or two about what you remember of your time there.
Falls Creek Baptist Conference Center is celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2017, and the Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma (BGCO), which owns and operates the camp, is hosting events to commemorate and celebrate the occasion on Labor Day weekend.
On Sept. 2, Falls Creek will host a Night of Praise concert, featuring musical artists who have previously played at Falls Creek youth camps, including Charlie Hall, Jami Smith and Matt Roberson, as well as special guests The Skit Guys.
On Sept. 3, Falls Creek will host a Homecoming Service, a "classic Falls Creek worship service" that will feature Anthony L. Jordan, BGCO Executive Director-Treasurer, former Falls Creek music director Bill Green, as well as the Falls Creek Centennial reunion choir.
"Falls Creek is a spiritual landmark for so many people. In its 100 years, more than two million people have walked these hallowed grounds, and tens of thousands have experienced the saving power of Jesus in their lives," Jordan said. "Anyone who loves Falls Creek is encouraged to attend these events and bring friends, family and guests."
The Sunday evening Homecoming Service begins at 6 p.m. Seating is limited but does not require a ticket or reservation. The Night of Praise event on Saturday begins at 6:30 p.m. and requires a ticket. Tickets for the Night of Praise are $5.
