Cache First UMC plans 5K run Nov. 12

On your mark. Get set. Dash Through Cache during Cache First United Methodist Church's sixth annual 5K Nov. 12.

The annual race is the church's fall fundraiser with all proceeds going to various church mission programs. Race day will include a 5K race, 5K relay for three and a 1 mile fun run. Participants can walk or run in either event. Races will begin at Cache Public School inside Ulrich Stadium. Each race participant will be timed electronically.

Jan Watson, race director, said Cache Public Schools has always been kind enough to allow the church to use its recreation facilities. Signs will direct participants to the parking lot area and the starting line.

"We have, basically, a new football stadium so the race begins and ends on the track in the stadium," Watson said. "And this year it's a little bit different scenery than they've had before. And they leave the stadium and go through Cache and finish back up at the school."

Cost is $30 to participate in the 5K race, $50 for three contestants in the 5K relay and $15 for the 1 mile fun run. Post-race refreshments will be available. Prizes will be given to the overall male and female finishers in the 5K race and to the top three in each age group for the 5K relay. No awards will be given for the 1 mile fun run. The award ceremony will begin at 9:15 a.m.
