Buckets of Hope filled with items for local needy persons
Buckets of Hope was founded because Adriene Davis, who runs a local feeding ministry, noticed that many homeless, elderly and others who struggle to make ends meet are not able to afford basic hygiene items most people take for granted.
After filling and giving away large buckets full of toilet paper, small shampoos, feminine products, soaps and deodorants, Hungry Hearts Feeding Ministry director Davis is reaching out to the community for donations of these items and/or funds to provide these items.
Lack of hygiene items can make a bad situation feel more hopeless.
"That is why I call them Buckets of Hope. It lets them know that someone cares," she said.
Many lack or cannot afford basic hygiene items like toilet paper or soap. They have to make a choice between getting those items or medication or food like many of the elderly do, she said.
"There are many people who are homeless who are not who you think they are," she said. "Many became homeless because of medical bills, loss of a job or having to care for a family member life simply happens."
