Violet Jane (Prince) Tucker
Violet Jane (Prince) Tucker passed away in her home with her husband by her side, on Sunday morning, Nov.12, 2017, at the age of 74.
Funeral for Violet Jane Tucker will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2017, at Paradise Valley Baptist Church.
Interment will follow at Paradise Valley Cemetery under direction of Whinery-Huddleston Funeral Service
Violet was born to Ben and Daisy Violet Prince on Dec. 30, 1942, in Lawton. Violet attended Stoney Point School until the eighth grade and graduated from Elgin High School in 1960. She met the love of her life, Luther Tucker, and they were married at Paradise Valley Baptist Church on Feb. 23, 1962. They recently celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary. Violet worked at Elgin Public Schools as a secretary and in the high school library as an assistant librarian until her retirement after 27 years of employment in the school system. Her interests included bowling, attending bluegrass festivals, spending time with her family and playing card games. She also loved completing puzzles.
Preceded in death by her parents: Daisy and Ben Prince; her sister, Violet Nadine Van Curen; her brother, Tony Prince, and great-grandchild, Oakley Tucker, Violet is survived by her husband of 55 years, Luther Tucker; her children: Luther Randell and Deborah Tucker, Tessa and Robert Craig, Rodney and Julie Tucker, and Robert and Stacy Tucker, all of Lawton. Violet was a loving grandmother to 11 grandkids: Michael and Ashley Tucker, Steven and Melissa Tucker, Katherine and Dylan Parrish, Christopher, Deborah, Amanda, Dustin, Garrett and Aubrie Tucker, and Candace and Kaylee Craig, all of Lawton; and five great-grandchildren: Travis, Oliver and Emily Tucker, and Andrew and Easton Parrish, all of Lawton. Violet is also survived by her sisters: Clara Simmons of Geronimo, and Ina and Floyd Dawson of Rowlett, Texas.
Violet was a member of the local Parkinson's support group in Lawton. Memorial contributions can be made to the local group in Lawton.
