Michael Leon Linton
Word has been received of the death of Lawton and former Mountain Park resident Michael Leon Linton.
Michael, 66, passed away Saturday, July 7, 2018, at his home in Lawton.
Arrangements are under direction of Becker-Rabon Funeral Home.
In keeping with Mike's personal philosophy and in honoring his wishes, no funeral or memorial service will be held at this time. His remains are to be cremated and his ashes scattered.
Mike was born Sept. 16, 1951, in Snyder as the youngest child to Ray and Leota Ivy (Killian) Linton. He was raised in Mountain Park and educated in the Mountain Park Public School System. Following high school, Mike attended Southwestern State College earning a bachelor of science degree. Later in his life he returned to academia and earned a master of science degree from Cameron University.
Mike's professional work career was an eclectic mix of necessity and opportunity and as such he had many jobs. Mike was a janitor, a construction worker, a probation/parole officer, an iron worker; he was also a sales representative and very briefly a social worker. He possessed a strong work ethic and would do whatever job that was available to be successful. His favorite job and the one he enjoyed the most was operating a combine and driving a grain truck while on wheat/corn harvest.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents and his older brother, Gary.
He is survived by his daughter Lindsey, Oklahoma City; his sister, Henrietta, Mountain Park; and his grandson, C.J., Las Vegas, Nev.
In lieu of flowers or solicitations for charitable contributions, Mike would encourage his friends to go for a run, empty a magazine down range, or drive through the refuge with the windows down.
