Lillie O.D. Nichols
Funeral for Lillie O.D. Nichols, 90, of Lawton, will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 11, 2017, at Union Baptist Church with the Rev. CW Whitlow, pastor, officiating.
Ms. Nichols passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2017, in Lawton.
Burial will be at Highland Cemetery under direction of Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home.
Lillie was born Feb. 5, 1927, in Ardmore, to Taft and Laura Ann (Pierce) Gaines. She worked as a live-in Home-Health Care provider and also worked at Midway Headstart. She married Alfred Nichols in 1943 in Waco, Texas. Lillie was a faithful member of Union Baptist Church, where she served on the Deaconess Board and was a member of the Women's Missionary Union until her health failed. She enjoyed cooking.
She is survived by her children: Laura Ann Banks, Alfred Irving Nichols, Earnest Ray Nichols, William Burney Mayes and Charles Clint Nichols; her granddaughters raised from birth: Patricia Ann Johnson Poe and Lillie Mae Johnson; her siblings: Merle Lofits, Carl Gaines, Warren Gaines, Dorsey Gaines and Dwight Gaines; and many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and numerous other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; children: Lillian Nichols and Herbert Fowler Jr.; and her siblings: Viola Henson, Inez Pendarvis, Martin Gaines, Laverne Jones, Autry Gene Gaines, Charles Gaines, Pretiss Gaines, and Katie Gaines.
Viewing will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 10, 2017, at the funeral home.
