Janet Gail Maloy Ray

Funeral for Janet Gail Maloy Ray will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept.14, 2017, in the Cache Schools Auditorium with John Webb, minister, Cache Christian Church, and Pastor Chuck Rettig, Cache United Methodist Church, officiating.

Burial will follow in Cache Cemetery under direction of Becker-Rabon Funeral Home.

Janet Gail Maloy Ray went to be with the Lord on Monday, Sept. 11, 2017, after a lengthy illness. She was 76 years of age. 

Janet was born to Ken and Joyce Maloy on Jan. 27, 1941, in Lawton. At the age of 6, her family moved to Cache, where her dad established Ken's Grocery Store. She graduated from Cache High School in 1959, and Cameron State Agricultural College in 1961 where she was named ROTC Cadet. She graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1963 with a Bachelor's Degree in Business. Her first teaching job was at Hennessy, Okla. She also taught at Fort Sill Indian School, Lawton High School, Great Plains Vo-Tech, Eisenhower High School and Eisenhower Junior High, all in Lawton. She received her Master's Degree in Education in 1975. In 1992, she retired from teaching and she and her husband Henry took over the family business, Ken's Food Store, where she worked until 2005. She married Henry Ray on Aug. 26, 1979. 

She was an avid OSU Cowboys fan, loved to knit, sew, and often utilized her teaching skills to teach others in Cache how to knit. With the help of her friend, Betty Edwards, she became an accomplished artist. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Cache, where she helped with the children's classes and Bible School, providing arts and craft activities for the little ones. She enjoyed the outdoors and yard work, loved visiting people and dearly loved her family. 

She is survived by her husband, Henry of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Pete Dempsey of Mountain Park; sister and brother-in-law, Karol and Wayne Haney of Cache; sisters-in-law: Otha Elkins and Lola McCuiston; brothers-in-law: Paul and wife Jo Ray, John and wife Kay Ray, David Ray, and Robert and wife Linda Ray; nephew and family, Kris Maloy and wife Jolie Beth and their daughter Karoline; numerous other nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and grand-dogs: PJ and Annie.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept.13, 2017, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Cache Schools Education Foundation in Janet's memory at 102 East H Avenue, Cache 73527.
