Alan R. Lemons
PEKIN, Ill. Alan R. Lemons, 56, of Pekin, passed away at 7:50 p.m. Monday, June 12, 2017, at his residence.
Alan was born Aug. 1, 1960, in Phoenix to Laray S. and Darla J. (McHenry) Lemons.
Alan attended schools and played baseball in Phoenix through his grade school years. Alan then moved with his parents to Lawton, where he continued to play baseball, which was a sport he loved, and graduated from Eisenhower High School here.
He worked as a typesetter in his family's business, A-OK Rubber Stamp Co., for 18 years and loved to do lawn work on the side. He was a member of Western Hills Christian Church and Later Carriage Hills Christian Church in Lawton.
He later moved to Pekin with his family and worked at PDC Labs in Peoria, Ill., He said it was the best job he had and loved it. They were really good to him there. After moving to Pekin he attended the Pekin First Church of the Nazarene.
He loved to play and coach softball and later even coached his son, Dylan, in the several sports he played.
Alan had a generous heart and loved helping people who were in need mowing their lawns or whatever they needed. He was there for them.
Survivors include his parents, Laray and Darla Lemons, of Lawton; a son, Dylan Laray Lemons, of Pekin; a sister, Robin Valentine and husband Stewart, of Elgin; a nephew, Spencer Valentine and wife Hannah, of Florida; a niece, Krystin Anderson and husband Anthony, of Fletcher; a great-niece, Kinsley Valentine; three great-nephews: Easton Valentine, Dawson Anderson and Luke Valentine; and two stepdaughters, Amanda and Amber Olson.
Memorial visitation was from 5-7 p.m. Friday, June 16, 2017, at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes in Pekin. The family met Sunday, June 18, 2017, for a private service at Mount Scott. Cremation has been accorded and no other services are planned.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
