Soldier's crime costs rank, pay
A Fort Sill soldier has been reduced to the lowest pay grade, E-1, and sentenced to 75 days hard labor and 75 days restriction to barracks after he was found guilty of using cocaine, abusive sexual contact with another soldier and assault consummated by battery.
He will also forfeit $700 in pay for two months.
The court-martial of Spc. Vito Asaro was held last Wednesday and Friday. According to the Fort Sill Office of the Staff Judge Advocate, he was guilty of one charge and one specification of wrongful use of a controlled substance (cocaine) in violation of Article 112(a) of the Uniform Code of Military Judge, one charge and one specification of abusive sexual contact with a private in violation of Article 120, UCMJ, and of assault consummated by battery on the private.
