Police arrest man for firing pistol in air
A man with a handgun allegedly fired a round less than a mile from Cameron University around 11 a.m. Monday, police said.
Lawton Police Officer Jesse Alverson reported that Sgt. Mark Greer held the man at gunpoint after spotting him at the intersection of Southwest 24th Street and H Avenue. While searching the man's pockets, officers found a Lorcin 9mm pistol with two rounds remaining in the magazine, Alverson reported.
The man saw another officer looking on the ground near the roadway, and he asked, "What is she looking for? Is she looking for bullets? I didn't shoot there; I shot by the railroad tracks across from the thrift store," the report states.
Officers searched the area near the thrift store but found no evidence. The man was arrested for reckless conduct with a firearm and possession of a firearm after a prior felony conviction.
