Murder trial to open last week of docket
The case for a 26-year-old man charged with murder and seven other felonies will open the last week of the May-June jury docket in Comanche County District Court.
The trial for Andrew J. Gaines, of Lawton, whose bond remains at $1.5 million, will begin Monday in the courtroom of District Judge Emmit Tayloe. Gaines was charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of Joshua Whitehead on Nov. 5, 2015. Whitehead was shot and killed in his car at 4003 NW Ozmun. The body of Whitehead, 26, was in a vehicle found wrecked near the intersection of Northwest 40th and Rogers Lane at 2 a.m. that morning.
Gaines is also charged with three counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon, three counts of attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon and possession of a firearm after prior felony conviction.
