Mayor won't seek new term
Mayor Fred Fitch won't seek a fourth term, he told the Constitution on Tuesday.
"I've been debating this thing for the last six months," the mayor said.
He said he was in business for 45 years and is in his ninth year as mayor and decided he wanted to take more time for spend with his family. His term will end in January and his wife Natalie plans to retire later in 2019.
"We've got things we want to do and places we want to go."
He had a heart attack four years ago. "I'm doing well," he said, "but I just want to enjoy life."
"We accomplished a lot as a city and things are going well," he said, and he believes Stan Booker, who has announced he's running for mayor, can "move the city and keep it going in the right direction."
